Free Word is an arts centre based in Farringdon whose focus is free speech, political discourse and cultural expression. Since its previous website was developed in 2014, the organisation had undergone a change of leadership, calling for a far more vibrant and potent web presence.
In the spirit of the organisation’s wide variety of events and art forms, we were briefed to design a ‘gallery space’ for their website, with a minimal style aimed to sit alongside vibrant and varied assets, with new season designers and artists creating fresh identities for the centre’s collateral twice a year.
The site integrates box office system Spektrix, and each show and page uses anchored tabs to delineate content and make for easy navigation, with a floating nav to ensure strong UX throughout the booking process.
Our next steps are to integrate a vast archival database of the organisation’s friends and partners, along with a knowledgebase, content archive, and various reading lists.
Other developments and improvements to the site, such as the adding of a bespoke calendar to aid the booking process, are ongoing.
